Steve qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2011 with Arram Berlyn Gardner LLP, a medium sized practice based in the City of London where he progressed to Associate Director and was responsible for a varied client portfolio. Steve has twelve years post qualification experience and extensive knowledge in the accounting and taxation requirements of small and medium sized owner managed businesses, both in compliance and effective tax/business planning.
His range of skills encompasses business start-ups including advice on incorporations, cloud accounting software solutions and personal and corporate tax advice. He will also advise on research and development tax relief claims including preparation of reports to be filed with HMRC, and guidance and advice in relation to the Enterprise Investment Scheme and Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme.
Ashby & Company Chartered Accountants has been in existence since 1991. Steve had been appointed as a partner of the firm at the start of January 2019 and took over the Practice at the end of December 2023 when his father John retired.
Away from the office Steve has travelled extensively but is now a family man with two young children. He still has a passion for football and is a qualified level 1 FA Coach. He is responsible for the Haslemere Town Youth FC U8 girls and U11 age groups, the teams which his daughter and son play for respectively. Steve is also the treasurer of Love Haslemere Hate Waste, a local environmental charity with the goal of making Haslemere a zero waste town.
